Companies have a legal duty to ensure that suitable arrangements are in place to manage health and safety. Documented risk assessments must be made if the company employs 5 or more people and these records must be kept.<\/p>\n

Basically:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Assess the possible risks.<\/li>\n
  2. Determine the possible consequences.<\/li>\n
  3. Who or what will be affected.<\/li>\n
  4. Evaluate the risks. Remove, reduce, control.<\/li>\n
  5. Continuously review.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    These are just the very simple steps and a lot more is involved. See the HSE website for more information and we’ll be adding an extra free course – Risk assessments, method statements and safe isolation procedure soon.<\/p>\n
