At the back of the 18th Edition book ‘BS7671:2018’ we have 17 appendices containing additional or supplementary information to the rules and regulations within the book. If you look though you\u2019ll see that Appendices 11 and 12 are empty. So in fact there\u2019s just 15 Appendices including the brand new Appendix 17 ‘Energy Efficiency’ within the current version of BS7671.<\/p>\n
If you go to page 3 of BS7671 and look at the table of contents I just want to point something out that may make life a little bit easier for you during the course and make the exam not as overwhelming.<\/p>\n
During your course we are going to go through the book cover to cover together, building up your familiarity by going through it page to page, and your exam is an assessment of your ability to use and reference this book<\/p>\n
You\u2019ve got in total around as good as 550 fun-filled pages within the book so but if you look at the table of contents you can see that the Appendices start on page 339 and if you look at that exam breakdown at how many questions there are on the Appendices there\u2019s only five. So that means within Parts 1 to 7 you have got 55 questions in total so it’s basically as good as saying that\u2019s 300 pages with 55 questions and the last 200 pages or so has only five questions.<\/p>\n
So, think about the main exam as having 55 questions within parts 1 to 7 and out of that 55 questions you are looking at looking at 40 questions just on parts 4, 5 and 7 so these are where you really need to be concentrating your studies on.<\/p>\n
The Appendices have only five questions in the exam and cover over 200 pages. So, if you’re going to be doing any extra reading don’t be spending two days reading the Appendices. You are better off, much better off familiarising yourself with the individual Chapters within Parts 4 and 5.<\/p>\n
So just a bit of a heads up, don’t think of the exam as being about the whole of the book think about it as 55 questions on the first 300 pages and the 5 Appendices questions covering the last 200 pages are bonus questions.<\/p>\n
