But with some confusing info out there about the 19th Edition Wiring Regulations and the upcoming 18th Edition Amendment 4, we need to set the record straight so you can plan your 18th Edition training with confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Facts About the 19th Edition Wiring Regulations<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First things first:<strong> there&#8217;s no confirmed release date for the 19th Edition Wiring Regulations.<\/strong> Despite any rumors, the IET hasn\u2019t announced any specific plans for it. For now, the next major update will be <strong>Amendment 4 to the 18th Edition<\/strong>, which is due to be published in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s Coming with the 18th Edition Amendment 4?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 18th Edition Amendment 4 will address updates that reflect recent advances in technology and European standards, including areas such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stationary secondary batteries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low voltage generating sets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Power over Ethernet (PoE)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Energy efficiency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Functional earthing and bonding for ICT (Information and communication technology) equipment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This amendment will be essential reading when it arrives, but until then, if you&#8217;re working in electrical installation or maintenance, you\u2019ll need the current Amendment 2 (the \u2018brown book\u2019 from 2022) and the short 2024 Amendment 3 PDF, <strong>which you can download free with your course.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Our Advice to Learners<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ve noticed some learners are considering putting off their 18th Edition qualification, hoping the 19th Edition will be released soon. <strong>Here\u2019s why we\u2019d advise against waiting:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The 19th Edition is not on the immediate horizon<\/strong>, and the next confirmed update is Amendment 4 in 2026 and it&#8217;s likely to be another two or three years before the 19th Edition arrives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>It\u2019s standard industry practice<\/strong> to keep up with the latest amendments rather than waiting for a new edition.
