Caution, earth shatering reveleation: The key to passing the 17th Edition City & Guilds 2382-15 exam is to be familiar with whole of the book. But when you first start and are wondering where to focus your efforts I’d go for the most relevant or important Chapters within each of the Parts of BS7671:2008+A3:2015.
So in my opinion the Key Chapters worth focusing first on, are…
Part 1:
Chapter 13 – Fundamental principles
Part 3:
Chapter 31 – Purpose, supplies and structure
Chapter 34 – Maintainability
Part 4
Chapter 41 – Protection against electric shock
Part 5
Chapter 52 – Selection and erection of wiring systems
Chapter 54 – Earthing
Part 6
Chapter 61 – Initial verification
Part 7
Section – 701 Locations containing a bath or shower
Appendices
Not yet! Focus your efforts on Parts 1 to 7 when you first start. Although the Appendices take up nearly half of the pages within BS7671 and are important they only form 8% of your final City & Guilds 2382-15 exam. That’s just 5 out of the 60 total questions. Have a look at them only when you have completed Parts 1 to 7 and are happy.
REMEMBER: This is just where I’d start. For your exam it’s important that you are comfortable finding your way around all of the Parts and their relevant Chapters.
