A new amendment to BS7671:2008 is here. Amendment 2 dated August 2013 has dropped in our laps. Fortunantly though it’s not too massive a change and only adds a new section to Part 7 with some additional stuff for Part 2.

Electric Vehicle Charging Installations
Applies to circuits intended to supply electric vehicles for charging purposes. Plus the feeding back of electricity from an electric vehicle into a public or private supply.
Doesn’t cover induction charging and charging mobility scooters and similar of 10 amp or less. Approx 4 to 5 fun filled pages with some lovely formulas.
No need to rush out and buy a new copy of BS7671 as there is a downloadable version at the IETs website which is free. However if you want a printable version there is a fee of £6.00.
Another nice little earner for the IET. With more amendments expected in the not too distant future.
